Tunes of the Weekend

Had a great weekend of DJing. Gigantic was fun on the Friday, and then on the Saturday evening I played a set in the dance tent of Tanglewood Festival, and then Lavery’s Ballroom later that night was great craic.
This was the first year that Tanglewood Festival has taken place, and it seemed like it went pretty well. Located in Warrenpoint, it had a ton of local bands playing on two stages plus a comedy tent and a dance tent as well. I was playing at 7.30pm, and the tent was opened up, so it was really bright and it felt like it was dead early, I decided that the best thing to do was to just bang out the massive anthems from the start. I kicked off the set with this AC Slater track, and then literally banged it out for a solid hour. It went down pretty well, and by the end of set there were loads of people giving it stacks. Good times.

As soon as I had finished the set I had to jump into my car and bomb it back up the road to Belfast to play in Lavery’s. It was another brilliant night, sold out dead early and rammed till the end. This song was the highlight of the set for me. I know it’s a big tune, but I didn’t really expect anyone to know it. Some guy came up to the DJ box and put his mobile phone up to the glass. It said ‘Uptown Top Ranking – Legend!’ on it. I was well chuffed.

Yo! Welcome to the GIGANTIC blog. The primary purpose of this place is to promote music that we’re into, and that we’d like other people to hear too. We want to try and help break new bands and tracks, and also like to dig up old classics that we think need more exposure. Essentially, we want to help makes tunes Gigantic. Of course, we do enjoy throwing out the big pop and electro bangers as well, we’re not music snobs.
