Take It To The Beach
Hello Friday! If we were in some other super hot country, right now we’d be jacking in work early for the day, and taking our lives down to the beach. Probably crack open some beers, get a sound system rocking, and have a Gigantic beach party right into the wee hours.
Unfortunately, we live in Belfast, and the weather is rarely hot enough for a trip to sandy shores. We can still party it up, though. For some reason all of the tunes picked out today put me in mind of the beach. It could have turned into a mammoth post with tons of Surf stuff in it. That’s for another day, and we’re just gonna hit you up with a trio of tracks here.
First off, this is a simply humungous track. Kim has been playing it in the early part of the set for a while, but I’ve only recently picked up on it and started dropping it at peak time. Every time it gets played now, someone comes up and asks what it is. That’s the mark of a great song.

Next off is another Kim choice, though this one comes via Chris Jones of AU. He picked it up originally and posted it over on the iheartau.com site. You can head over here and watch the video for it too, it’s swell. Splendid song.

The last choice is mine, and it was pretty difficult. I’ve been listening to the Surfer Blood record Astro Coast for a while, and there are tons of great tunes on it. Brilliant album. This is a delightful track, reminds me a bit of Vampire Weekend, only better.

Hope you enjoy the tracks. As always, if you’re hitting Belfast tonight and fancy a party, drop us a line and we’ll fire you guest list.

Yo! Welcome to the GIGANTIC blog. The primary purpose of this place is to promote music that we’re into, and that we’d like other people to hear too. We want to try and help break new bands and tracks, and also like to dig up old classics that we think need more exposure. Essentially, we want to help makes tunes Gigantic. Of course, we do enjoy throwing out the big pop and electro bangers as well, we’re not music snobs.
