Students, The Unemployed, And Vagrants.

Huzzah. For most regular people, Friday means they have reached the end of the working week, and that it’s now time to let the hair down and reach for the party hat. Of course, for students, the unemployed and vagrants, the weekend has less meaning. Still, they’re all welcome at Gigantic.

On a total whim, I have just decided to dedicate each the next three songs to Students, the Unemployed, and Vagrants. No real reason behind this, the songs were already selected, but let’s see if I can create reason as I go.

First off we have the opening track from the new Hot Chip album One Life Stand. The song is called ‘Thieves In The Night’, and it is applicable to students because they are often victims of burglaries, committed by, you guessed it, thieves in the night. The new album is awesome by the way, go buy it.

The next choice is ‘Why Don’t You?’ by Gramophonedzie. This one goes out to the unemployed, as the second half of the title is actually ‘..Get A Job’. I’m kidding, of course. We all know that the number one reason for the current high levels of unemployment is the economic recession and market forces beyond the control of the individual. This tune is great, and full credit has to go to Kimbo for discovering it first.

Finally we have a bit of a banger, just for old times sake. It’s ‘Tetris’ by Electrixx, and it goes out to all the vagrants. The reason for this is that a survey of homeless people was conducted recently, and it discovered that the top-rated video game amongst this demographic was Tetris. True fact.
