Holiblog #5: Animal Passion

Right, so when I thought the Tuesday was going to be dead, surely the Friday before New Years Eve is going to be a quiet one, yeah? I mean, EVERYONE is going to be doing something the next night, people would want to conserve their energy I thought. Instead it was quite the opposite, an absolute TON of people came out in force, and it was one of the biggest guest lists of the year. Perhaps folk were using it as some sort of training for the following night. Whatever the, it was flipping great, and Gigantic was jumping for the get go.
There were loads of old school heads in the house, back from their foreign climes for the festive period, which was awesome as they all have great taste in music. As if this wasn’t making the night great enough, Dom Brogan called by and we hit off an impromptu back-to-back DJ set.
The tune I enjoyed playing most of all was Miike Snow ‘Animal’, more or less entirely based on the fact that Kim Barclay was back from Italy for Xmas, and you could hear her squeal when it was dropped.

In fact, this was my favourite tune from Dom’s choices, based on the exact same thing. It’s Passion Pit ‘Sleepyhead’. Passion Pit and Miike Snow are the two acts that I most associate with Kim, and she played a big part in making the club a success when she lived in Belfast, so these tunes are for her.

Mega big big love to all these lovely peeps for coming down and dancing too – Nadine, Tamara, Kim, Baba, Nik, Aoife, Jess, Tommy, Matt, Cassy, Dave, Aaron, Reece, Rheda, Chris, Stu, Michael, Nadine, Manus, Gerard, Ronan, Simon, Beca, Jonny, and the other million people who I’ve forgot.

P.S. the blog is called Animal Passions based on the songs picked, but on a side note it is also a disturbing documentary about people who like to have sex with animals. Check it out some time.

Yo! Welcome to the GIGANTIC blog. The primary purpose of this place is to promote music that we’re into, and that we’d like other people to hear too. We want to try and help break new bands and tracks, and also like to dig up old classics that we think need more exposure. Essentially, we want to help makes tunes Gigantic. Of course, we do enjoy throwing out the big pop and electro bangers as well, we’re not music snobs.
