Happy Mondays #2

OK, we were originally intending to get this post up in the morning time, to help cheer you up and make you feel better about the fact that it is was Monday. However, our day was hella busy and pretty stressful, so this post is actually a bit of a pick-me-up after a slice of hecticness. All these tracks have been chosen by friends of our Facebook page as songs that they think are happy, or that make them happy. They’ve also been kind enough to write a little bit about the songs they picked out. Here we go…

Nadine Chambers: Baccara – Yes Sir, I Can Boogie (right click to download)

This song has ridiculously good memories from many Gigantic nights past. You really can not take life too seriously when listening to it, which is why it makes me happy! I mean, they use the term ‘Boogie Woogie’!! Also, I like to put on a dodgy Spanish accent when chirping along, this makes me even happier.

Rebecca Johnston: Phoenix – If I Ever Feel Better (right click to download)

I first heard it on Erland Øye’s Dj kicks album and it made me think about my friend Riona although I’d not heard it with her. I already loved Phoenix and was really surprised when I found out it was them. It’s an XL portion of good mood.

Dianne Campbell: The Associates – Party Fears Two (right click to download)

On hearing Mackenzies melodramatic otherworldly vocals collide with those sparkling game show synths. Party Fears Two never fail to make me grin, swagger and spin soaring me right past any other track I’ve ever heard to a place close to paradise.
