Gigantic’s Top Five Tracks Of 2008
It was a pretty good year for music, and a fun year for Gigantic. Tonight will be the Boxing Night party, and what better way to gear up for it than by taking a look back at some of the biggest tracks of the year? We’ll run down in reverse order, as it’s what all the cool kids do.
5. Hot Chip – Ready For The Floor
You gotta love these guys, they really know how to work groove and subtlety into their music. This track doesn’t have the same kick as their earlier anthem ‘Over And Over’, but what it lacks in kick it makes up for in sheer good time swing.

They made math-rock accessible in 2008, which is no bad thing. Sharp, edgy guitars and skippy drums made this a treat for the dancefloor. Can’t to hear what these boys come up with next. There are quite a few good remixes kicking around of these peeps too – check out this post for evidence.

3. Cut Copy – Lights And Music
Along with Midnight Juggernauts and The Presets, Cut Copy are one of the key ingredients of the holy trinity of Aussie electro. I must have listened to their album In Ghost Colours approximately 1.2674 million times and I have yet to get bored. This track takes a while to build, but when it kicks in it’s like cool rain on a summers day.

We were caning this track in Gigantic way before they became the monstrously huge indie behemoth that they are today. The wonky synth noise at the start could only mean one thing, it’s time to get your dance stomp on.

This just had to be number one. A constant request of the Gigantic massive, the regulars totally owned this song. I can’t imagine the crowd of any other club would go as crazy to the spazz out part of this song as the Gigantic faithful do. Top stuff.

Yo! Welcome to the GIGANTIC blog. The primary purpose of this place is to promote music that we’re into, and that we’d like other people to hear too. We want to try and help break new bands and tracks, and also like to dig up old classics that we think need more exposure. Essentially, we want to help makes tunes Gigantic. Of course, we do enjoy throwing out the big pop and electro bangers as well, we’re not music snobs.
