Yo! Welcome to the GIGANTIC blog. The primary purpose of this place is to promote music that we’re into, and that we’d like other people to hear too. We want to try and help break new bands and tracks, and also like to dig up old classics that we think need more exposure. Essentially, we want to help makes tunes Gigantic. Of course, we do enjoy throwing out the big pop and electro bangers as well, we’re not music snobs.

Gigantic 18/11/11: Tender Sweat
Here, Friday night turned out to be stacks of craic. I’d been in London all week and didn’t really have a chance to promote the club. I was expecting it to be a wee bit quiet, and while it wasn’t as busy as usual, there were loads of familiar faces down, which to be honest is a lot more fun than a tons more people that I don’t know. I ended up playing a shed load of hip hop, which seemed to go down a treat. Seeing Nik Bannon, and Cassy Gillespie on the other side of the room, miming every word to Kanye West ‘Monster’ was a treat. As was watching Dave Rooney and Aaron Brown lap dancing each other in the middle of the club to NERD.
These were my favourite two tracks of the night, The first was some old school Chromeo. I played this track all the time when it first came out, but moved on to ‘Fancy Footwork’ as the staple choice. I played this one for Tamara’s friends, and they fuppin’ loved it. More or less got the dance floor started, as it turned out.

The next song is another really old school electro cut. I dropped this because Donal Rainey was down, and I knew he’d love it. It’s ‘Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp’ by Gameboy/Gamegirl, and it’s pretty filthy. Donal reminded me that it was an old Gigantic CD called ‘Post Punk and Electro Funk’ that I put together years ago. I might dig it out again.

Also, shout out to Andrea and Eoin for requesting Tokyo Police Club and Metric, both great choices. It made me dig out Tokyo’s second album to listen to again. SUCH A GOOD RECORD.
