Epicosity and Massivity

Let’s be honest, after the sheer epicosity (yes, I did just make that word up) of Gigantic’s Big Friday last week, it was going to be difficult for anything to measure up to it. There is a good chance that it has provided an almost untouchable benchmark for future awesomeness to reach. OK, I might be being a bit dramatic, but it was just so much fun. Well, after thinking that Gigantic had been ruined forever, last night turned out to be really good fun.

There was a big hen party in for Emma Hopley. They made a loads of whooping and hollering noises all night, and also helped to dictate a chunk of the playlist. A good few friends were in the house, including Nik (who pointed out that he is one of the most frequently mentioned people on this blog, quite rightly), Donal (who delivered some quality requests as always), and Julie and Jodie (who provided non-stop entertainment). Oh, and Simon and his friend, who picked Bon Jovi as the last tune. Belter.

Anyways, less of me name-dropping friends, and more blogging tunes. I’m going to fire these tunes up in the order they were played.

First up is a new hip-hop tune that I’ve started playing. It’s a pretty laid back, g-funk style of tune. It reminds me a bit of Jurassic 5 and old school stuff. I like it, no idea who DJ Quik is and I’m too lay to research him right now. Great track though.

I seem to have developed an obsession with the Eighties lately. I just can’t get enough of synth beats and electro pop goodness. Love the uplifting vibe of this Joe Jackson song, works dead well for the middle of the night.

And the last tune of today’s blog was a request that Chris had made. In fact, he made it about four times during the course of the night. Fair play though, I ended up playing it as the penultimate song of the night, and it went down a treat. Cheers Chris!

More massivity next week. Yes, I did just make another word up.
