Domday #1

Continuing on our new path of regular themed posts, we’ve got the most recent GIGANTIC guest DJ Dom Brogan in for a regular blog spot. Here is picks out three of his favourite tunes of the moment, and hits us with a few words as to why they are floating his boat. He’s a man of exceptional taste, so you know his picks are gonna be good ‘uns. Take it away…

Remember cake? What do you mean no? Y’know that band with hits like ‘The Distance’ and ummmm their cover of ‘I Wills Survive’. Well they’re back with a new track called ‘Sick of you’ and it’s pretty great. Full band hip hop in the best Odelay-era Beck kinda way. You need to hear this.

After that subdued start I though I’d up the ante with a couple of bangers. The first of these is a remix of local noise merchants A Plastic Rose by Palookaville (A club i happen to play tunes at also). Simple formula really, take a big tune and make it a dancefloor smash and this does it effortlessly for me.

The other tune I’ve selected is unsurprisingly by Duck Sauce. Everything they’ve done this year has been gold and this is no exception. The B-side to ‘Barbra Streisand’, as some of you may be aware, is called ‘You’re Nasty’. It’s a tune that was doing the rounds late last year and it’s been given a fresh vocal to freshen it up. Try not to dance to it, I dare you.

Big ups to Dom! Make you sure you check him out whenever and wherever he DJs.

Yo! Welcome to the GIGANTIC blog. The primary purpose of this place is to promote music that we’re into, and that we’d like other people to hear too. We want to try and help break new bands and tracks, and also like to dig up old classics that we think need more exposure. Essentially, we want to help makes tunes Gigantic. Of course, we do enjoy throwing out the big pop and electro bangers as well, we’re not music snobs.
